Kenny Gilbert Brings Food Hall Concept to Jacksonville Beach
reviews of Gilbert's Southern Kitchen & Bar - CLOSED "SO GAS. Went here for brunch with my mom and was absolutely blown away by everything this.and you
Okay, that maybe a little too far, but let a man live! I had the opportunity to dine at this establishment with two other Jacksonville food bloggers. During the visit we were able to learn a lot from the way Chef Kenny operates his establishment, from the meticulous ways he trains his staff to the different ingredients he uses to put ordinary dishes into a category of its own. The restaurant sits right on the beach and is connected to two of his other restaurants. The interior of this restaurant is amazing with its high ceilings, an open kitchen, and a view that overlooks the water. The first dish that was ordered was the Cast Iron Sizzling Turnips. You have Turnips cooked in a lemon garlic butter and topped with crushed peanuts.
Three floors plus an outside bar. So it was only logical to me that a beach trip was in order, not only to gather information for my article but sit and chat with my friend about his latest undertaking. You can spend an evening with us and experience it all. Sunday 4 pm to 7 pm, which includes half off all of our specialty cocktails, draft beers, and house wines. Yes, we have several. We serve a variety of craft cocktails with our focus on moonshine, whiskey, and bourbon-based concoctions. Friday and Saturday nights, 6 pm to 9 pm we have acoustic sounds, Blues, and Bluegrass vibes.
Both focus on modernized yet traditional Southern fare and are conveniently located inside a new food hall space in Jacksonville Beach. Back-to-back hurricanes that year did not deter Gilbert who prevailed to not only see both restaurants survive and thrive but also move on to new projects. That idea, tied into Jacksonville Beach, would be pretty cool. There is nothing like it here. The menu features not only chicken, fish and shrimp but also vegetarian options, including sides such as lima beans, garlic rice, and creamed kale.
We had been with family all day and were looking forward to a quiet meal within walking distance of the hotel. Unfortunately this was quieter than we expected considering the fabulous location essentially right on the beach but there were only three tables with guests
i hear its your birthday
Ask for it FB Hot! I was so impressed at the amazing service and outstanding food. We all enjoyed everything we ordered. The portions were large and the menu diverse. They definitely have something for everyone. I am looking forward to returning whenever I am in the Jacksonville area again. Birthday see below my comments.
